Tittesworth
- Part II
Return
to Part I
The dam wall and out flow.
The path around the western
side of the reservoir is mainly some distance from the water,
which is glimpsed through the trees ...
... until opposite the Visitor
Centre where the path returns to the bank.
Sailing and motor boats
are not permitted at Tittesworth but it is a noted fly-fishing
venue from bank and rowing boat.
After being laid up for
the winter the rowing boats are being made ready for the new fishing
season starting in March.
Nature conservation: luxury
lay-over for butterflies and other insects in strategically placed
log piles on a sandy base.
Nature Reserve area north
of the causeway, with Great Crested (Horned - US) Grebe, sadly
too distant to be clear at this level. Birdwatching hides have
been set up here to observe the ducks and other water birds and
elsewhere feeding stations are provided to attract and assist
smaller birds such as tits and finches especially in the winter
months.
Returning home via Axe Edge,
the northerly view towards Derbyshire Bridge and the head of the
River Goyt.
From the old road to Buxton
above Derbyshire Bridge, the closest I could get to the 'tadging'
visible in the last shot. One man outlined against the flames,
on the left.
