Rainow
& Upper Dean Valley - Part II
Return
to Part I
Looking north, back across
the Dean Valley to Yearnslow Farm with gorse bushes starting to
break out in their yellow rash.
Looking west, down the valley,
from the road. The Oaks is the name on the map for the far wooded
ridge, with old quarry workings on the lip.
The turn of the valley as
the river starts running northwards towards Bollington. The roofs
of Danebent Farm are bottom right - nearly an apt naming but surely
in the wrong valley? Given the vagaries of early spelling could
Dean/Dane be the same? But what about Bollin-gton away from the
Bollin?
'Now don't go too far away,
dear!' Inquisitive triplet at Danebent Farm.
The old ford at Danebent
looking east up the valley.
Looking south up the clough
towards Higherlane Farm.
Thornset Farm buildings
...
... and trees.
...
Back round above Rainow
village the haze is very evident even to the point of starting
to obscure Holy Trinity Church, and Kerridge Ridge just as a looming
shadow, although the pimple of White Nancy can just be made out
in the first picture.
Cottages on the B5470 road
back to Ginclough.
Ginclough mill and hamlet
in evening sunlight.
Closer to the mill. The
view from the road.
Sunset from near Swanscoe
Hall.
