MaccCam - Springtime in MaccLand

Spring is certainly arriving. Daffodils blooming, trees blossoming, lambs gambolling, a young (and even an old!) man's fancy turning to thoughts of ...

Here first, however, is a much delayed portrait of the most visible representation of MaccLand and which will need no introduction to Maxonians

Visitors and friends should know that White Nancy, here in all her spring sunlit glory, sits at the Bollington end of Kerridge and is visible for miles.

I will return to the area another time but we are here to celebrate Spring, are we not?

In window-boxes, troughs and gardens the snowdrops have come and gone, the crocus has shown their gaudy selves and now the regal nodding daffodil is opening to the extended sunshiney days.

This mass display was planted by Prestbury Gardening Club in celebration of the Millennium. It is hard to tell, but it may be they were planted to spell out '2000'.

In the churchyard banks of naturalised crocus are a patterned carpet of white and blue with occasional splashes of daffodil yellow.

Hawthorn trees are still bare but leaf buds are opening on hedged hawthorn in sheltered sunny places while shrivelled berries blacken and drop.

On the open hillsides and between the hawthorns the gorse is bursting out yellow.

...

Tiny pale pink blossom creates a lacy effect on a Prunus (?) tree.

Cats are sunning themselves even in the unpromising looking places!

This cock pheasant has felt the urge to wander ... into my back garden!

Poor quality pic, sorry, shot through glass from a bedroom at some distance :o(

A little young to be in full gambolling mode but big enough to get their number linking them to their mum. The cautious mums retreated with their little ones whenever that strange creature appeared at the edge of the field - so, shot at a distance.

One slightly belligerent mum and one deeming discretion best trots away.

Hellebores, heathers and what looks like Daphne mezereum's unmistakable pinky-purple flowers but I'm told could be an early Azalea/Rhododendron. Anyway they're all blooming nice and nicely.

As well as working on the garden it's maybe time to start working on the car ...

... this one, I fancy, needs more than a little attention!

'One careful owner'? Perish the thought!
